DESCRIPTION

Vanadium has a strong affinity for iron and readily dissolves into the iron lattice, creating a solid solution. This solid solution strengthening effect results in improved strength and hardness of the steel.

Vanadium also forms hard vanadium carbides (VC) in the steel matrix. These carbides act as strengthening agents, increasing the steel’s resistance to deformation and wear.
