Gnee offers corten metal wall panels. Corten steel is a ‘weathering steel’ which is fabricated by mixing a combination of steel and alloys. This blend causes the surface of the sheet to develop a rusted appearance when exposed to the elements. The oxidised coating on the exterior is self-protecting and prevents rust from penetrating deeper and damaging the interior layers of the panels. Due to its rustic appearance, corten steel is favoured for outdoor construction projects, landscape architecture and artistic sculptures. If you’re looking to create cladding wall, curtain wall, landscape retaining walls, corten steel sheet or plate is the way to go. This type of steel plate is heat treated to harden the outermost layers of material which results in superior corrosion resistance over standard hot and cold rolled steel sheet or plate. Unlike regular steel, Corten develops a coating of dark brown oxidation over the metal that protects the underlying material from further corrosion.
